Liz Coombs qualified as a solicitor in 1995. Since then, she has practiced exclusively in the area of family law. In June 2010, Liz formed E J Coombs Solicitors, a specialist family law practice, with the aim of providing a high quality, bespoke service to clients from the home counties and London. The business has gone from strength to strength as a result of Liz’s reputation as a top family solicitor and the strong team of Family Lawyers working alongside her.

Liz has vast experience of dealing with all aspects of family law, but her particular areas of expertise are:-

  • Financial Disputes – complex / high net worth cases including cases with third party interests, inherited assets, larger business/companies and high value assets including pensions.
  • Children – complex and entrenched conflicts regarding child arrangements on separation, often involving serious allegations of domestic abuse and parental alienation.

Notable Cases

Liz has been involved in the following notable cases:

  • Representing a father facing multiple allegations of domestic abuse / child abuse, successfully opposing the allegations and ultimately obtaining an order for the children to live with the father, and subsequently obtaining permission for them to permanently move abroad with him.
  • Representing a father who had been estranged from his child as a result of the mother’s behaviour, successfully obtaining findings from the court of parental alienation and dismissing mother’s allegations of domestic abuse, leading to mother’s application to move out of the area / change the child’s school being dismissed, and obtaining an order for shared care (week on/week off).
  • Representing a director and shareholder of company valued at £20m + in financial claim by his wife, successfully defending any payment to wife until / unless husband realises the value of his shareholding in the future.
  • Represented wife and successfully obtained 90% equity in family home to meet her needs in addition to a share of husband’s final salary pensions.
